Niagara Beautification Commission Lunchean continued

Several years ago - I admit I forgot just when - a playground downtown disappeared in the night. Now, how does that happen, that swings, slides and hoops, simply vanished from all sight.

Memorial Park Neighborhood Block Club was proud of that park. It's the place where the neighborhood played. They worked very hard to keep it there, and weren't surprised at the raid.

The block clubs knew where the playground went, and they were promised a park in its place.
But the years went by and nothing was done so they went to the City for space.

Still more years went by - and no park was seen. It took some "nudging" from NOAH to end this quest. A new playground was built for kids five to twelve. It's great for now - have to wait for the rest.

It is a great park - so colorful and bright. But all those years waiting for development - it just isn't right.

Memorial Park Neighborhood Block Club is as strong as ever. John Cooper is the leader now as Noreen has stepped back. They have new officers and plans and are meeting again, right at the NACC.

Thanks to all who played a role in opening this park. It was a long wait but worth it for the neighborhood. Now when we drive by and the the people about. We know it belongs - it feels right - and that is good.
